THE PLANTATION
Finca La Bella was founded in 1960. As a fourth-generation coffee grower, Teodoro Engelhardt decided to continue managing the family farm, which includes 110 hectares of mixed coffee production and natural forest, organized by variety. Finca La Bella is an integral part of the surrounding natural ecosystem and bases its agriculture on local and regenerative sources: plantains are planted throughout the farm to provide natural fertilizer and shade; natural fungicides are mixed with natural alcohols to prevent mold in the humid mountain climate; water use is minimized through recovery, treatment, and recycling; and vermiculture is used to generate compost fed with coffee pulp.
